A Ugandan software developer Solutions has launched an artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to improve citizens’ access to government information and services.

Speaking at the unveiling at Hotel Africana on Wednesday, Afrosoft IT Solutions Chief Executive Officer Ronald Katamba said the UG-Gov Agents platform was developed following guidance from President Yoweri Museveni.

“We came up with the UG-Gov Agents, an AI-powered application that is going to help every Ugandan access information about government and ministries in one centralized place,” Katamba said.

According to Katamba, the platform is accessible through WhatsApp, Telegram, web browsers, Android, and iOS devices, ensuring citizens can obtain information regardless of the type of phone they use.

He added that the system currently supports 16 Ugandan languages, enabling people across the country to access government information and services in their preferred language, while also helping farmers and other citizens obtain timely information.

“What we have developed is a government-integrated platform working toward developing government programs, and we have asked ministries to come up with clustered and tailor-made messages,” he explained.

The chief guest, Dr. Hillary Musoke, Senior Presidential Advisor on Agribusiness and Value Addition, praised Ugandan innovators for developing homegrown digital solutions to improve service delivery and reduce dependence on imported technologies.

“Today we are witnessing the power of science and the brains of our young Ugandans. For a long time, we have relied on foreign ICT solutions, yet our own innovators can develop technologies that address local challenges,” Dr. Musoke said.

He added that the AI-powered platform would help eliminate bureaucracy and improve access to government services.
“Systems are a weapon for building society, and technology like this can greatly improve service delivery,” he noted.

Ronald Katamba is a Ugandan technology entrepreneur, software engineer, and the Chief Executive Officer of Afrosoft IT Solutions. He is widely recognized for developing innovative digital solutions that address challenges in governance, agriculture, and public service delivery.

Among his notable innovations is the Jaguza Livestock App, a smart farming platform that helps farmers monitor the health, breeding cycles, vaccination schedules, and productivity of their livestock. The application enables farmers to access real-time data and make informed decisions, contributing to improved agricultural productivity and incomes.

Katamba also developed the NRM mobile application, which provides information on government programs and facilitates citizen engagement. His latest innovation, the UG-Gov Agent, is an artificial intelligence-powered government assistant that enables citizens to access information and services through WhatsApp, Telegram, Android, iOS, web platforms, and USSD. Available in 16 Ugandan languages, the platform aims to bridge information gaps, enhance service delivery, promote digital inclusion, and make government services more accessible to all Ugandans.
