Uganda’s growing pool of content creators and digital professionals could gain access to new international markets following the launch of Swift Social App, a platform seeking to connect local talent to audiences, brands, businesses and income-generating opportunities across borders.

Swift says it operates in 31 countries across Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia, creating a potential network through which Ugandan creators can showcase their work, build digital brands and pursue cross-border collaborations.

The opportunity extends beyond content creation to the wider digital services economy, including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). Ugandan youth with skills in video production, graphic design, digital marketing, social media management, customer engagement, virtual assistance and other digitally delivered services could potentially use such platforms to reach clients outside the country.

This is significant as Uganda seeks to increase its participation in the global digital economy by exporting skills and services rather than relying only on traditional employment opportunities.

Richard Kamya, Country CEO of Swift Platforms Uganda, said the platform is intended to change how young people view digital creativity and its economic potential.

“Young people and women are not simply consumers of digital content; they are creators, entrepreneurs and innovators.”

He added that the platform seeks to connect creativity with commercial opportunities.

“Our goal is to provide them with a platform where creativity translates into visibility, strategic partnerships, and sustainable economic opportunities. We want to shift the perception that content creation is merely a hobby—for many, it is a viable business.”

For businesses, brands and development organisations, Swift could provide another channel for identifying Ugandan creative and digital talent for marketing campaigns, communications, outsourced services and collaborations.

The company also plans to support **creator networking, digital skills development and collaborations**, potentially strengthening links between Uganda’s young workforce and international demand for digital services.

Swift said it wants to help creators build sustainable careers by turning their skills, ideas and audiences into economic opportunities.

“We want to change the perception that content creation is merely a hobby. For many young people, creativity can become a profession and a business. We want to help creators turn their skills, ideas and audiences into meaningful opportunities.”
